Right to Buy Purchases and Shared Ownership Schemes

Many Councils and Housing Associations give their Tenants the opportunity of purchasing their home, giving them discounts depending on the type of property and length of time they have lived there. There are also various Shared Ownership Schemes on offer whereby a percentage of the property is purchased and rent is paid on the rest.

Many High Streets Banks and Building Societies will lend money for these types of schemes, or alternatively you could seek the advice of an Independent Financial Adviser.

If you are an existing Council or Housing Association tenant and wish to purchase your home you first need to apply to your landlord for the Right to Buy Claim Form (Form RTB1)
